Farewell Tucson, the new Hyundai ix35 is unveiled today. Due to be shown at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show, the new ix35 is the Koreans' latest crossover and will land in UK showrooms in spring 2010. Hyundai heralds its new 'fluidic sculpture' design language; we say it looks jolly slick, and not a little unlike Ford's Kuga junior SUV.Hyundai ix35: the new lookThe styling touches of note include the hexagonal grille, which is spreading across the faces of Hyundai's rapidly refreshed model line-up.
Earlier this week we wrote about Jeep's new Cherokee ad that ran during Saturday Night Live and starred
cast members from Saturday Night Live. Jeep called it a “cast commercial” and apparently it had some precedent. We did a little digging and found this 5-minute spot on the new Chevy's for 1965 featuring the stars of “Bonanza,” “Bewitched” and “Man from Uncle.”
“This is the '65 Corvette Sting Ray,” says Pernell Roberts from "Bonanza." “Looks like it means business, and it does.
When we first heard about this show, we figured it would be all famous cars from famous movies: the real Bullitt Mustang, the real Herbie, the real pod racer from Star Wars. While there were some actual movie cars at the first show of the newly minted Television/Motion Picture Car Club--including the Charger from Fast & Furious and a real Dukes of Hazzard General Lee--the majority of the wheels were tribute cars made by fans who happened to work in the movie industry. The only Star Wars car was a converted Honda Civic Del Sol with a stuffed green Yoda riding shotgun.
